Aleratec: 1:7 USB HDD Duplicator With Sanitization

Aleratec Inc. introduced the 1:7 USB HDD Copy Cruiser SA, a stand-alone duplicator for duplication of USB flash drives or external 2.5-inch HDDs/SSD drives with USB.

A tool for IT and other professionals who regularly clone USB storage devices, it makes copies of USB flash drives or external 2.5-inch HDDs/SSD drives with USB and includes functions such as copy or compare, copy system and data only, copy complete drive, and format FAT and FAT 32 file systems.

“Having heard our customers’ requests, we designed a new series with added versatility,” says Perry Solomon, Aleratec president and CEO. “The USB HDD Copy Cruiser makes duplication fast and simple for both flash drives and USB-connected 2.5″ external HDDs, and it even sanitizes the USB HDDs.“

It includes sanitization functions that remove all traces of information from 2.5″ external HDDs. Users can choose from 1-Pass, 3-Pass or DoD 7-Pass overwrite functions. HDDs sanitized by 7-Pass wipe have been verified by a forensic data recovery company as being “forensically unrecoverable” and meeting the criteria set forth in NIST 800-88 guidelines for media sanitization.

It supports most popular brands of USB 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 flash drives and external 2.5-inch USB HDDs/SSDs and includes:

• A design that does not require a computer

• An interface with back-lighted LCD display

• Certified sanitization on the DOD 7-Pass overwrite

This is part of the company’s series of USB HDD Copy Cruisers and Copy Towers.

It will be available for shipment in the third quarter of 2014 with an ERP of $899.
