With Active IQ, customers now have visibility to all key metrics across their entire storage infrastructure, including all individual and geographically disperse clusters, through a single pane of glass.

For enterprise IT, managing storage requirements has become challenging with the unrelenting growth in data coupled with aging, labor-intensive monitoring tools. IT managers have not had easy access to the right data to help them efficiently manage their storage infrastructure effectively. Current diagnostic data is limited, cumbersome to obtain and consume, and is not retained over the long term, making trend analysis and infrastructure planning much harder than it should be.

As enterprises move away from reactive break / fix support models towards proactive data driven management they require more sophisticated tools to help them monitor and manage large-scale IT infrastructure,” commented SolidFire’s VP of product management Adam Carter. “Most monitoring tools in use today were developed around spinning disk and have not kept pace with the changes in how storage infrastructure is allocated or consumed. SolidFire’s real-time monitoring and trending data empowers IT managers with greater management and control over all of their SolidFire infrastructure, and enables quick triage of issues affecting the business.

Active IQ is an addition to SolidFire’s Active Support, which delivers customers proactive monitoring and system support 24/7/365 anywhere in the world. It receives and stores telemetry data from SolidFire storage systems every tens and maintains that data up to five years for use in long-term trending and analysis. Users can manually set monitoring and alerting thresholds or leverage pre-set values, allowing customers to establish and tailor monitoring requirements – all through a single management console.

Key features of Active IQ include:

  • Consolidated Monitoring – Eases the headache of storage system monitoring and management by enabling customers to view information on all deployed SolidFire clusters through a single pane of glass and customize instant alerts for any required use case.
  • Granular System Data – Provides real-time information on the health of a storage system, enabling IT managers to collect a variety of real-time information at every level of the system, including the cluster, node, account and volume level.
  • Historical Trending – Gives rapid and extensive access to consolidated system data ranging from one hour to five years, enabling both quick resolution of immediate storage issues as well as the ability to analyze long-term performance.
