SolidFire Delivers 2X More Performance to Virtualized MongoDB Deployments
In Yahoo Cloud Serving Benchmark
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 16, 2014 at 2:43 pmSolidFire, Inc., in all-flash storage systems, delivers over twice the operations per second to MongoDB, Inc.‘s deployments compared to any previously published Yahoo Cloud Serving Benchmark (YCSB) result.
For MongoDB workloads, SolidFire enables performance predictability, management simplicity and scale, helping speed the adoption and optimization of MongoDB deployments in enterprises worldwide.
“SolidFire is the only storage system that combines dynamic QoS (QoS) performance control with the simplicity and scalability delivered in a MongoDB environment,” said SolidFire’s MongoDB database systems architect Chris Merz. “Running MongoDB on SolidFire’s all-flash array unlocks the true architectural flexibility of MongoDB. Admins are no longer shackled to the limitations imposed by traditional storage architectures by having the flexibility to match their MongoDB infrastructure to business needs, rather than the other way around.”
The YCSB results across four different workloads demonstrate SolidFire’s ability to deliver the predictable performance that organizations expect from their mission-critical databases. The following workloads: update heavy, read mostly, read only, and read latest, were benchmarked in a virtualized MongoDB environment with a SolidFire array as the core storage subsystem. The operations/second were consistently 200-300% better than comparable published results.
“Big data technologies like MongoDB offer a variety of applications, especially Cloud-based applications, to scale their data to previously unaffordable levels while maintaining a high level of performance and agility,” said Carl Olofson, research VP for database management and data integration software research, IDC. “Such applications are creating ever greater demand for NoSQL database management technology.”
“Enterprises choose to deploy NoSQL solutions for a variety of reasons,” said SolidFire’s founder and CEO Dave Wright. “Our customers often cite performance, scalability and ease of deployment as key factors in choosing to deploy MongoDB. The YCSB Benchmark demonstrates that utilizing SolidFire’s all-flash array with MongoDB allows businesses to achieve their objectives regardless of type of workload.”
For MongoDB’s document database, providing high performance, HA and scalability,
SolidFire enables to:
- Dynamically adjust storage performance for optimal throughput and latency
- Flexibly align storage resources to MongoDB infrastructure in support of application needs
- Linearly scale storage resources to meet the demands of rapid application data growth
- Simplify storage management and easily map business logic needs to storage resources
