StoneFly Certifies HGST Ultrastar 6TB Helium HDDs
Across all of storage solutions
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 10, 2014 at 2:53 pmStoneFly, Inc., a supplier of integrated IP SAN systems and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dynamic Network Factory, Inc. (DNF), announced it has finished certification on 6TB drives across all of its IP SAN, scale out NAS, BC, DR, and hyper-converged infrastructure storage solutions.
For data centers requiring high-density solutions where available rack space and low power requirements are valuable commodities, StoneFly storage appliances increase storage capacity by 50% across the board while reducing both CapEx and OpEx per usable terabyte. StoneFly’s HA solutions feature scalable capacities of up to 90TB for every 1U of rack height.
To deliver this 50% increased storage capacity, StoneFly chose Hitachi’s Ultrastar He6 helium HDDs featuring one-seventh the density of air, 23% lower idle power, 49% better watts/TB, 30% quieter operation and 4-5°C cooler operation than comparable 4TB drives.
Mo Tahmasebi, president and CEO, StoneFly, said: “Latest capacity helps to reduce the size of your storage appliance and bring the operating costs down.“
