MSDI Selecting Cleversafe Object Storage Technology
To support cloud offerings
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 27, 2014 at 2:50 pmCleversafe, Inc announced that MSDI has selected its’s dsNet technology to power its private, hybrid and public cloud offerings.
MSDI is an IT consulting firm that specializes in providing storage, virtualization, BC, DR and performance tuning services to enterprise customers. As client data demands continued to grow, it needed a cost-effective, reliable and scalable cloud storage and backup solution that could power the back-end of its cloud services portfolio.
“We wanted a cloud platform that would enable us to provide a storage and backup solution with the availability our customers needed to meet their RTOs,” said Bryan Champagne, CTO, MSDI. “Not only does Cleversafe’s object storage technology allow us to offer highly scalable and secure cloud services to our customers, but it also enables us to offer more reliability at a price that is very competitive in the cloud market.“
dsNet object-based storage solution enables MSDI to offer scalable cloud infrastructures that are easy to grow and maintain. Cleversafe’s storage system is built on a shared nothing architecture that simplifies system management and enables rolling system updates that reduce downtime. Since implementing this technology, MSDI and its cloud customers have not seen a single IT outage and have experienced uninterrupted service.
In addition to utilizing Cleversafe’s technology to support its cloud offerings, MSDI uses the dsNet solution for its own backup and recovery. As the growing company continues to add businesses to its robust client list, secure data is a primary concern. Compared to replication-based storage systems – which make copies of information available in multiple locations – Cleversafe’s solution uses a patented, geographically dispersed erasure coding and houses data as virtualized and encrypted ‘slices’ spread across devices and storage nodes. This method is more secure than traditional methods because it would require a multi-site security breach to compromise the data.
“We are excited to work with MSDI both as its storage provider and as the technology that enables the company to provide customers with a more robust cloud offering,” said Russ Kennedy, SVP of product strategy and customer solutions, Cleversafe. “Our team is invested in not only providing the company with easy-to-use and secure object storage technology, but also with a competitive advantage that is already helping MSDI win new business.“
