Up to 512GB ($319)

Transcend Information, Inc. announced its SATA III 6GB MTS series of M.2 SSDs.

Transcend 6Gb SATA M.2 SSDs f1

Featuring capacities of up to 512GB, compact dimensions, and SATA III 6GB/s interface, MTS400/600/800 M.2 SSDs are suited to address the size limitations and high performance needs of portable devices.

Higher Capacities
The MTS series of M.2 SSDs includes three space-saving M.2 form factors (Type 2242, 2260 and 2280) for MTS400, MTS600 and MTS800 (42/60/80mmx22mmx3.5mm). The series is designed to meet demands of thin and light mobile devices that require an SSD, including ultrabooks, notebooks, tablets, portable gaming systems, and smartphones.

MTS400 offering is up to 256GB and MTS600/800 offering up to 512GB. The series boasts the SATA III 6GB/s specification, a Transcend TS6500 controller, a DDR3 DRAM cache, and is comprised of quality MLC NAND flash chips. With transfer speeds of up to 560MB/s read and 310MB/s write, the MTS series of M.2 SSDs can handle everyday computing tasks as well as demanding multimedia applications.

DevSleep and ISRT
The MTS series of M.2 SSDs offers support of SATA Device Sleep Mode (DevSleep) and Intel Smart Response Technology (ISRT). Portable computer users often make use of low power states such as standby to avoid having to wait for the operating system to boot back up. However, this comes at the expense of battery life. DevSleep allows compatible mobile devices to power off the SATA interface when not in use while maintaining a fast response time of less than 20ms, offering instant-on capabilities akin to a smartphone. With ISRT, users can configure their computer system with an SSD used as cache memory between the hard disk drive and system memory. This provides the advantage of having a hard disk drive for maximum storage capacity while delivering an SSD-like overall system performance experience.

Reliable Performance
Despite their dimensions, Transcend’s M.2 SSDs come equipped with features such as TRIM and NCQ support, built-in ECC, wear leveling and intelligent block management. The series supports enhanced S.M.A.R.T. commands, power shield mechanism, and shock resistance, providing long-term reliability and data protection.

MTS400/600/800 models are available in 32GB ($39), 64GB ($59), 128GB ($99) and 256GB ($169) while MTS600/800 models are also available in 512GB ($319) capacities. The MTS series of M.2 SSDs are tested for compatibility and reliability, and carry a three-year limited warranty.
