  • Traditional tape drives, including autoloaders, changers and libraries.

  • Optical media, such as Blu-ray DiscBD-RE and DVD.

  • Disk Cartridge – based storage systems such as RDX/RD1000.

  • Standard USB disk drives and flash drives.

  • NAS devices over the internet of local network.

  • Any other computer equipped with space and an FTP/FTPS server.

  • Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service) cloud backups.

The Red Hat Enterprise Linux product family is the largest client base for our current products,” said Tom Podnar, president, Microlite. “Red Hat is the standard-bearer in enterprise Linux markets and our primary tier one porting platform. We are proud to have been a Red Hat technology partner since 2008, and to have been providing backup and bare-metal DR capabilities to our shared clients since 1999.

Microlite has been an active participant in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Partner Early Access Program and we are very pleased to have been able to work with them to certify their BackupEDGE solution for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7,” said Mike Werner, senior director, global technology programs, Red Hat. “By certifying on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, our mutual customers benefit from knowing that their mission-critical systems and applications have been thoroughly tested on the world’s leading enterprise Linux platform and that the resulting solution is certified and supported across their IT stack.

Bare Metal DR
RecoverEDGE bare metal DR automatically rebuilds disk partitions and volume groups, then restores from any of the above media. Booting into DR mode can be from…

  • CD/DVD/Blu-ray Disc.

  • PXE boot from the network.

  • Removable disk or flash drive.

  • Bootable OBDR tape.

  • Multiple archives per medium

BackupEDGE allows multiple archives per medium to all of the storage types listed above. On Blu-ray disc and DVD, it utilizes a wear-leveling algorithm to maximize the lifespan of re-writable media.

Scheduler
It combines a schedulers with device quotas, retention times, and ‘lazy reclamation’ method to maximize the number of available backups should an individual file retrieval or a DR to a particular backup point be required.

MySQL Hot Backups
The software provides hot backup and restore of MySQL databases. Backups are sent directly to the archive medium without creating intermediate files. Restores may be into temporary files or straight back into the MySQL database.

Web Administration
Along with a traditional character and GUI, this provides web-based administration using any Java-enabled web browser. Just browse to the Linux server on the BackupEDGE administration port at any time.

Release 03.01.00 is available worldwide from distributors, resellers and VADs.
