From Agosto, SkyKit Cloud Storage Gateway
Relying on Google cloud storage
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 20, 2014 at 2:50 pmAgosto Inc. announced SkyKit cloud Storage Gateway, a managed cloud storage solution that extends a company’s existing backup systems, migrating stored data to the cloud.
It will be a featured topic at the Google I/O extended Minneapolis event taking place on June 25, 2014, at Agosto’s Minneapolis HQs.
It is designed for IT leaders who need a better way to manage their company’s storage footprint. It allows them to reallocate primary storage from NAS drives, SAN drives, and remote site tape storage. It also eliminates the need for secondary storage, and physically reduces a company’s data center sprawl. Agosto client ICOM Productions, Inc a Calgary-based learning solutions provider, was struggling with the burden of accommodating its growing storage needs.
“As ICOM grows, we are constantly evaluating how to best store and protect the sensitive information that our clients entrust us with every day,” said Dr. Jared Tabler, VP, people and marketing, ICOM Productions. “Agosto had already helped us implement Google Apps, which was the easiest technology rollout I have ever been a part of. When we started looking at cloud storage solutions, we knew Agosto was the right partner. Agosto’s Skykit cloud Storage Gateway is helping take our business to the next level not just for our needs today, but for our future growth as well.“
The service plugs into a network like any other drive. An encrypted copy of a company’s data is stored in the cloud, while a cache assures that frequently used data is accessible locally. The on-demand cloud storage is secure and accessible. It includes support for DR if on-site data is lost or compromised.
“As a company’s storage footprint grows, IT departments are forced to spend more time managing storage procuring, provisioning, maintaining and upgrading as well as backing up and protecting all of those systems,” said Agosto president Aric Bandy. “Agosto designed SkyKit CSG to relieve IT departments of that burden, so they can focus on more business critical matters.“
It is available for an all-inclusive price, with no capital expenditure. The monthly fee includes the on-premise hardware and software, the migration of data to the cloud, ongoing verification, maintenance, and round-the-clock support. IT departments can escape the tape and other physical storage solutions that can be expensive and difficult to maintain.
Agosto was recently named Google Enterprise Global Partner of the Year for Cloud Platform.
