IBM System x GPFS Storage Server Products Expanding
To include NetApp 24-slot JBOD 2U models with with a 6Gb/s host interface
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 17, 2014 at 2:45 pmThe IBM System x General Parallel File System (GPFS) Storage Server product line is expanding to include new 24-slot JBOD models.
The GPFS Storage Server combines the performance of System x servers with GPFS software to offer a high-performance, scalable building-block approach to storage needs. It allows organizations to start small and build using incremental additions, providing expanded capacity and bandwidth with each additional GSS building-block.
Each of the new IBM NetApp DE5600 SAS JBODs (Machine type-Models 0796-017, 0796-018, 0796-019, and 0796-020) features a 24-slot, 2U disk enclosure, with a 6Gb/s host interface. These JBOD models are only offered populated with HDDs and SSDs; and they are available only as components of the System x GPFS Storage Server (GSS) Solution, not as stand-alone JBODs.
Four new populated GSS JBODs:
- System x GSS 24-slot JBOD (24x200GB SSD) (0796-017)
- System x GSS 24-slot JBOD (24x800GB SSD) (0796-018)
- System x GSS 24-slot JBOD (24×1.2 TB SAS HDD) (0796-019)
- System x GSS 24-slot JBOD (22×1.2 TB SAS HDD + 2 x 200GB SSD) (0796-020)
Key prerequisites
- x86 standard-wide compute node
- IBM network switch
- Appropriate PDUs and main power distribution
- Monitor, keyboard, and mouse for setup
