Engineering, Procurement and Construction Saran-Entec Chooses Maginatics

Maginatics Inc., in distributed enterprise storage solutions, announced that Saran-Entec, an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company based in Istanbul, Turkey representing a partnership between Saran Holding and Entec group of companies, has deployed the Maginatics Cloud Storage Platform (MCSP) to enable collaboration among engineering and commercial teams in Greece and Turkey.

MCSP enables Saran-Entec to leverage a cloud file storage system, enabling centralized storage of construction files in the cloud and rapid access to those files from engineers in far-flung locations.

Capitalizing on the experience of Entec, founded in 2007, Saran-Entec specializes in project development, engineering and construction of wind and solar power generating facilities. With operations and construction sites in Turkey and Greece, the company’s distributed engineering and construction teams need fast and secure access to project files. However, the Microsoft DFS solution they were using led to colliding versions of files scattered across servers in various locations and critical data loss. The system also lacked centralized management or control and required red large overhead costs. Moreover, the lack of fiber infrastructure in Greece forced Saran-Entec teams to use ADSL and mobile connections, which were too slow for DFS to work properly.

With the Maginatics Virtual Filer, Saran-Entec can store one copy of each file in the cloud, and teams can collaborate as a result of Maginatics’ file locking capabilities with access through Active Directory. Maginatics Endpoint Agent software enables local file caching on each client device with built-in encryption and WAN optimization technology that ensures secure and responsive connections regardless of the communications infrastructure being used.
