This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 10, 2014 at 3:19 pmBoston Limited, in its 21st year as distribution partner for Super Micro Computer, Inc., has launched the its NXStor Enterprise SSD at Computex Taipei – an SSD unified NAS and SAN solution powered by Nexenta’s NexentaStor 4.0 and 24x SanDisk Optimus MAX 4TB SAS SSDs.
Optimised for high performance, HA storage applications, Boston’s Igloo NXStor Enterprise SSD is an efficient and scalable storage cluster that uses a combination of head nodes and JBOD disk shelves to achieve multipath failover. It contains two head nodes, each supporting multiple network I/O controllers and HBA’s enabling scalability. This edition supports up to 24x 2.5″ hot-swap SAS SSDs of up to 4TB capacity high performance solid state HDDs for storage.
Manoj Nayee, MD of Boston Limited, says: “As an extension to our award-winning range of HA Igloo storage servers we are delighted to leverage Nexenta’s flagship software-defined storage platform, NexentaStor, in order to deliver a highly efficient & scalable storage cluster. In benchmark testing the Igloo NXStor Enterprise SSD has been shown to produce hundreds of thousands to a million IO/s. This dramatic improvement over spinning disk arrays shows significant cost advantages over alternative monolithic storage implementations required to deliver an equivalent level of performance.”
“Nexenta is proud to be a part of Boston Limited’s continued success to deliver our joint customers Software-Defined integrated solutions,” said Thomas Cornely, VP of product management, Nexenta. “The combination of Boston Limited, SanDisk and Nexenta provide highly available, full featured, high performance storage software solutions with industry leading TCO.”
NexentaStor is a NAS/SAN software platform with enterprise capabilities focusing on issues that arise due to ever-growing datasets and provides customers with the flexibility to choose their storage OS independently of the hardware that it runs on. With features such as 128 bit addressing, virtually unlimited storage file sizes, virtually unlimited numbers of clones, and support for multiple concurrent server virtualization vendors, NexentaStor is both cloud and virtualisaton ready.
