Hedge Fund Administrator Quintillion Invests in Decoupled Storage Architecture
Using PernixData FVP Software
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 5, 2014 at 2:47 pmPernixData, Inc., in server side storage intelligence, announced that Quintillion, a fund administration company based in Dublin and an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp Fund Services (USBFS), deployed the company’s storage acceleration software to increase MS SQL performance and lower ongoing storage costs.
By deploying PernixData FVP software, Quintillion has improved operational efficiencies by lowering database query times by 40%. In addition, the company has saved more than $80,000 in IT investments over the next few years by avoiding expensive storage upgrades.
“We had plenty of storage capacity, but needed more storage performance to virtualize our mission critical databases without slowing down SQL query times,” said Charles Gillanders, CTO, Quintillion. “PernixData FVP allows us to move storage performance into high speed server flash, giving us the database performance we need at a price that doesn’t break the bank. When people ask ‘Why would you virtualize SQL Server’? I now respond ‘Why wouldn’t you?’“
FVP, a software platform for scale-out storage acceleration, virtualizes high speed server resources like flash and RAM into a clustered acceleration tier that enables IT administrators to scale-out storage performance independent of storage capacity. The result is read and write performance for all VMs, without the need to change existing server and storage infrastructure. By creating a new software based infrastructure for server side storage intelligence, PernixData changes how storage is designed and operated in virtual data centers.
“Quintillion is a perfect example of how companies of all sizes are turning to PernixData FVP to optimize mission critical applications like virtualized databases,” said Jeff Aaron, VP marketing, PernixData. “By decoupling storage performance from capacity, we deliver the performance our customers need at a price they want – without changing or replacing existing storage infrastructure. There is a fundamental shift happening in storage, and PernixData is right in the center of it.“
