Apacer Rolls Out Secure SSD Technologies
Including Boot Protect security function with strengthened protection management
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 2, 2014 at 2:57 pmApacer Technology Inc. presents several SSD data security protection technologies at Computex Taipei 2014, which upgrades SSD value-added technology.
To achieve secure storage, Apacer drives the evolution of the original CoreSecurity technology and launches Boot Protect security function with strengthened protection management, which can be activated immediately by the UrKey, a usb-based 2 way dongle for data protection.
Furthermore, the wide-temp waterproof industrial SSDs, MLC-mix technology enabling combination with MLC chips and PCIe adapters will all be unveiled at the exhibition, innovating SSD applications.
Jeff Lin, embedded application business unit director, Apacer, indicates: “Apacer’s consistent focus on innovation and security is broadened by multiple innovative industrial applications and security protection technologies, e.g. Boot Protect, UrKey, and the seamlessly waterproof corrosion-resistant SSD with IP57 certification, which is accessible and well-functioned even at extreme temperature as low as -40°C and provides high protection for durability and stability. It meets the stringent needs of military vessels and aerospace needs in the field of national defense.”
Boot Protect identifies Access Code before entering the OS, thus managing data security within single or multiple partitions and multi-users and ensuring protection at the frontline. The newly UrKey, a usb-based 2 way dongle, is able to execute the three powerful functions of CoreEraser, CoreDestroyer and CoreProtector with current USB slots, providing data security protection.
“In addition to security, costs considerations are also necessary,” adds Lin.
Thus, Apacer is going to present the full series of MLC-mix products, where SSD will be configured as a large-capacity mix embedding both MLC and SLC-lite. The lifespan will be six times longer in the SLC-lite solution than MLC, and the transmission will speed up about 2 times faster. It is the optimal solution to replace the one with solely-MLC capacity with its advantage in high-speed, lifespan and large capacity.
Apart from the new technologies above, a variety of PCIe adapters will also be showcased. Adopting adapter board design, these products are capable of flexibly transforming transmission signals as well as expanding capacity, including mini PCIe to M.2, PCIe to mini PCIe and PCIe to SATA interfaces, with speed up to 1,000MB/sec. In addition, many SSDs with the latest specifications will also be presented at the venue, including SATA 3 and PCIe products.
Industrial SSD Product Release Highlights at Computex 2014:
- 1) Boot Protect: Apacer’s exclusive CoreProtector technology for SSD data security protection is upgraded. Besides Data Protect, Write Protect and Device Protect, Boot Protect is added to consolidate management of information security. Boot Protect requires users to enter Access Code for access identification before entering the OS environment. The management mechanism and control with multiple partition and multiple users allows each computer to achieve security control via different Access Code, achieving management of data security.
- 2) UrKey Technology: Apacer’s exclusive CoreSecurity Technology for SSD core data security is tailored for customers’ system design and use. The new UrKey Technology can trigger, enable or remove the three major special security instructions of CoreSecurity through its usb-based 2-way dongle. These include CoreEraser, CoreDestroyer and CoreProtector, which deliver quick erase, full erase and security protection that will facilitate data security and increase storage reliability. The UrKey technology acts as the key to computer security. Once inserted in the preset USB slot, it will activate any CoreSecurity function and ensures security protection.
- 3) MLC-mix SSD: Apacer’s MLC-mix products are high-C/P-ratio SSDs that achieve industrial specifications with low costs. The greatest advantage of this SSD series is that they are configured as the combination of MLC and SLC-lite. The SLC-lite solution is for stable start-up and frequent written partitions with a lifespan six times longer and transmission about 2 times faster than that in MLC solution. On the other hand, MLC boasts large capacity with low costs and is suitable for storing general data and partition with less written frequency. The MLC-mix SSDs are a solution to replace the solely-MLC SSDs.
- 4) PCIe Adapter Peripherals: Apacer has extends its industrial storage product line to provide all-round storage solutions. The newly released PCIe adapter with an adapter board design helps customers to flexibly transfer and extend transmission signals and also provides capacity scalability. All of the above is done in their existing interfaces. This comes in three interfaces: mini PCIe to M.2, PCIe to mini PCIe and PCIe to SATA. Among them, PCIe to SATA add-in card also includes standard (7+15) pin SATA interface and M.2 SSD, CFast, while 7pin SATA SSD and MO-300-compliant mSATA SSD, achieves a transfer speed up to 1,000MB/sec, making it a choice for server RAID.
- 5) Nano Coating and Molding Protection Technologies: In addition to these products, the IP57 certified waterproof SSDs utilizing Nano coating and Molding technology will also be presented at this event. In addition to waterproof, anti-moisture, dust proof and corrosion prevention, these SSDs are accessible and well-functioned at temperature as low as -40°C. It meets the needs of military vessels and aerospace needs in the field of national defense with high protection for durability and stability.
