PoINT Enables File System Migration During Running Business Operations

Thus data can be migrated in background to new storage systems without interrupting running business operations. Also the file access is possible at any time, even during the migration process.

Due to data growth, shorter technology cycles or changes of hardware manufacturer (e.g. because of expiring support contracts) the number of necessary file system migrations in companies is steadily growing. After that the data migration proceeds in background and the old storage system is only used for reading. Any client access, whether reading or writing, is handled by the new storage system, thus modified or new data is only be stored there. If data has to be accessed which has not yet been migrated, Storage Manager Migration Edition ensures that this data is provided transparently from the old system. After the migration process is finished the old system can be removed from the network.
