V2.3 of NexentaConnect View Edition

Utilizing Cisco UCS for converged platform

At Cisco Live 2014, Cisco’s annual IT and communications conference, Nexenta Systems, Inc. announced the availability for version 2.3 of NexentaConnect View Edition.

This release follows the debut of NexentaConnect for XenDesktop formerly announced; this product portfolio will now give customers VMware and Citrix end-to-end VDI storage solutions.

Nexenta was at Cisco Live this week and demonstrateed its SDS solutions.

NexentaConnect View Edition (formally NV4V) completes an integrated architecture utilizing Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) for a converged storage and compute platform. It simplifies and accelerates the deployment, management, and performance of storage in a VDI at a lower price point.

Enhancements in version 2.3 of NexentaConnect View include:

  • Enhanced Compression: the addition of LZ4 compression drives greater storage density with little to no processor overhead.
  • Global VSA: the ability to deploy multiple desktop pools across a single Virtual Storage Appliance per virtualization host, minimizing resources while providing greater desktop density without sacrificing performance.
  • Enhanced Replication: improved and faster replication of desktop pools when using remote HA functionality to protect desktop machines and pools.
  • Additional View Parameters: updated deployment wizard matching the Horizon View deployment wizard, providing a transition for existing View users.
  • Rethering: automatically migrate virtual desktops to the hosts storing their data, resulting in increased performance.

Yale New Haven Hospital implemented the VMware Horizon View, Cisco UCS and NexentaConnect View Edition helping the primary teaching hospital for Yale School of Medicine (YSM) to deploy an innovative private cloud.

High performance, scalability and cost-effectiveness were our top priorities when looking at a virtualized storage solution,” said Dave Franco, system manager, Yale New Haven Hospital. “Cisco UCS, VMware Horizon View and NexentaConnect provided us with an integrated solution that met the needs of our users.”

With NexentaStor for unified shared storage services and this new release of NexentaConnect for VDI storage optimization, Nexenta continues to provide the best solution for customers looking to deploy storage in a virtualized setting,” said Thomas Cornely, VP, product management, Nexenta. “Yale New Haven is setting a great example of how NexentaStor, NexentaConnect, Cisco UCS and VMware Horizon View can help organizations scale and support more virtual desktops.”

Organizations turn to us to provide complete data and storage systems that improve the data technology infrastructure,” said Rolf Versluis, CTO, Adcap Network Systems, Inc., a Cisco Gold Certified Partner. “This announcement provides us with the opportunity to deliver end-to-end storage solutions across Citrix or VMware, which is something that our customers seek.”
