ElephantDrive and Synology Partner

To add more choices of cloud backup to NAS

ElephantDrive, Inc., in device integrated cloud backup and storage, announced a partnerhip with Synology, Inc.

The integration will add the ElephantDrive package as a customized version of cloud backup for NAS to the Package Center suite of applications and services that come with Synology DiskStation and RackStation.

This collaboration expands ElephantDrive’s roster of network storage partners, solidifying its position as a solution for backup from NAS to cloud.

Our mission is to partner with the leading providers of on-premise storage solutions to make enabling cloud backup, storage, and sync as easy as possible,” said Michael Fisher, GM, ElephantDrive. “With Synology, we’ve found another outstanding network hardware maker and a powerful platform for delivering a NAS optimized backup solution like the ElephantDrive.

With shared storage serving as an essential element in digital home and business, the DiskStation and RackStation enable you to share documents, files, and digital media with everyone on local network and beyond. From Synology’s point of view, including cloud backup made sense for separate site redundancy and ability to access data from anywhere with access to the Internet. The integration of the embedded ElephantDrive module allows for fast, simple account creation and set up of backups.

The announcement is the latest step in ElephantDrive’s effort to become the cloud backup solution for NAS. Unlike many of the other players in the online storage space, ElephantDrive has focused on integrated partnerships and enabling cloud backup, storage, and sync directly from headless devices like NAS. This differentiated emphasis and technology suite has led to a solution set qualified for delivery alongside NAS and other ‘headless’ devices.

Ultimately, the end users benefit. The partnership offers simplicity, providing one program to store all the important data from multiple devices on multiple platforms, and unifying the local and cloud storage experience. IT professionals also stand to gain from this partnership because they can now manage their clients’ cloud backups from different NAS platforms using the ElephantDrive cloud backup service. It also offers a partner reseller program tailored for IT professionals. The service also offers administrative tools for versioning and archiving data, and the ability to access and share files anytime and anywhere (including on mobile devices).

ElephantDrive and Synology announce a special trial offer of their new service: new users can log in through DiskStation Manager (DSM), the OS of all Synology NAS, complete an application and receive 50GB of service free for the first month. After the first month is completed, users can either upgrade to a premium ElephantDrive account – or keep using the service for free, if uploaded data is kept under 2GB.
