Richard Whitmarsh President, SerialTek

Former senior manager at Cisco, succeeding Dale Smith perishing in aircraft accident

SerialTek, LLC, in storage protocol analysis, announced the appointment of Richard Whitmarsh as president.

Whitmarsh,SerialTek He brings over 20 years of IT industry experience to his new role having served previously as a senior manager at Cisco Systems.

He succeeds Dale Smith who was president and co-founder of SerialTek.

Dale, along with several members of his family, perished in a tragic small aircraft accident, in early December.

I am committed to continuing the legacy of Dale in supplying the storage and other industries with world-class analysis and test solutions,” said Whitmarsh. “I am excited and look forward to opportunities and challenges here at SerialTek. As we move forward, our customers can continue to expect innovative solutions to accelerate their design, test and validation efforts.”

Whitmarsh has experience in leading and growing organizations and managing transitions as technology changes. While at Cisco, Richard held many leadership roles, most recently as the equivalent of a GM of network services. He was responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the corporate network along with other network services. He also worked with the technology product groups to provide product feedback and drive prioritization of features needed in an enterprise.

He graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney with a Bachelor of Information Technology and more recently a MBA from the University of Phoenix.

In addition to this appointment, SerialTek announced the formation of a board of directors responsible, for setting business direction.

Appointed to the board are:

  • Janis Smith, former CFO of Data Transit
  • Rand Kriech, SerialTek co-founder and president of Protocol Test
  • Paul Mutschler, SerialTek co-founder, and CEO/MD of Serial Cables
  • Jim Robertson, retired businessman and protocol analysis industry veteran
