To get 1PB of nearline storage
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 7, 2014 at 2:54 pmObject Matrix Ltd has been selected by BBC Cymru Wales to provide 1PB of nearline storage for its Cardiff based production facilities.
BBC Cymru Wales is currently the largest BBC production centre in the UK, outside of London. With increasing requirements to provide on demand access to both current and archived content across multiple departments and productions, it set out to procure a nearline storage platform that could satisfy those requirements now and for the years to come.
In order to satisfy the requirements set out by BBC Cymru Wales,
MatrixStore was chosen as it provides the following:
- One useable petabyte of 10GbE connected storage
- Resilience to failure with minimal disruption and low administrative effort
- Integrations with Avid Interplay PAM, SGL and Xendata tape library solutions
- Future proof addition of capacity and workflows
Nick Pearce, co-founder, Object Matrix, stated: “Being chosen by BBC Cymru Wales to help secure production assets and build a scalable nearline repository for archive content is fantastic news and proof that organisations are looking to do more with their content than park it on a shelf. The benefit of an object based, API driven nearline platform, like MatrixStore, is that it provides much more scope for automation and integrations than simple scalable file systems.“
MatrixStore is an object-based, nearline storage platform that scales from 12TB to multiple petabytes. As well as providing file system access it also provides additional business benefits via features including built in search, options for local and remote replication, multiple-tenancy, WORM options and built in audit.
