CommVault Systems, Inc., Oceanport, NJ, has been assigned a patent (8,655,914) developed by Anand Prahlad, East Brunswick, NJ, Srinivas Kavuri, South Plainfield, NJ and Prakash Varadharajan, Old Bridge, NJ, for a “system and method for storage operation access security.”
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A method and system for controlling access to stored data is provided. The storage access control system leverages a preexisting security infrastructure of a system to inform the proper access control that should be applied to data stored outside of its original location, such as a data backup. The storage access control system may place similar access control restrictions on the backup files that existed on the original files. In this way, the backed up data is given similar protection as that of the original data.”
The patent application was filed on March 30, 2007 (11/694,784).
Performing storage operations in network
CommVault Systems, Oceanport, NJ, has been assigned a patent (8,688,931) developed by six co-inventors for “systems and methods for performing storage operations in a computer network.”
The co-inventors are Rajiv Kottomtharayil, Parag Gokhale, Marlboro, NJ, Anand Prahlad, Bangalore, India, Manoj Kumar Vijayan, Marlboro, NJ, David Ngo, Shrewsbury, NJ, and Varghese Devassy, Ottawa, Canada.
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “Methods and systems are described for performing storage operations on electronic data in a network. In response to the initiation of a storage operation and according to a first set of selection logic, a media management component is selected to manage the storage operation. In response to the initiation of a storage operation and according to a second set of selection logic, a network storage device to associate with the storage operation. The selected media management component and the selected network storage device perform the storage operation on the electronic data.“
The patent application was filed on Jan. 25, 2013 (13/750,719).
Writing data and storage system specific metadata to NAS
CommVault Systems, Oceanport, NJ, has been assigned a patent (8,677,091) developed by Duncan Littlefield, Englishtown, NJ, Ho-chi Chen, Marlboro, NJ, and Rajiv Kottomtharayil, Ocean, NJ, for “writing data and storage system specific metadata to NAS device.”
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A system and method for communicating, browsing, verifying and routing data in storage operation systems using network attached storage devices is provided. In some embodiments, the system may include a management module and a media management component connected to the management server, which interoperate with network attached storage devices to provide the communicating, browsing, verifying and routing functions.”
The patent application was filed on Dec. 18, 2006 (11/640,730).
