Storageflex: Source-Based De-Dupe, Backup and Restore Software
AutoStor Backup increasing storage capacities by up to "20X"
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 14, 2014 at 3:05 pmStorageflex Inc., manufacturer of high-performance, HA storage systems, announced its AutoStor Backup, the company’s first introduction of backup and restore software, targeting business-class networked storage environments that require a fail-safe data protection infrastructure.
The software’s user interface features simple, drag and drop, point-in-time functionality. A management console performs centralized backups with existing hardware, supporting disk, tape, RDX, and cloud storage.
The Storageflex 3945N NAS Appliance – designed for mission-critical environments – can be incorporated into a comprehensive backup and recovery strategy.
With the use of agentless backup technology, there is no need for installation software on the clients being backed up, helping reduce the common architectural complexity and administrative overhead of traditional backup solutions.
Source-Based Deduplication
AutoStor Backup minimizes storage requirements with source-based deduplication by identifying and removing redundant data. Effective storage space can be increased by as much as twenty times on the same device compared to conventional backup methods, resulting in a reduction in network traffic and noticeably shorter backup times.
Additional software features include:
- Backup verification ensures that every file is saved properly, without corruption, and that stored data is searchable down to the version level for quicker file discovery
- Automatic self-healing and long-term data retention options enable system administrators to preserve data according to specified policies
- Daily checkup reports provide a snapshot of the health of all backup tasks and system resources for complete views of backup state
- Supports enterprise OSs: Windows Server 2000/2003/2008/SBS 2011/2012
“The Storageflex AutoStor Backup software offers SMB’s a cost-effective and powerful means to protect vital company data,” said Paul Chan, president, Storageflex. “A unique, global deduplication technology helps reduce disk space and network bandwidth, increasing backup speeds by as much as ten-fold.“
Storageflex is a Canadian manufacturer of high-performance, HA storage systems, with 20,000 customer installations in 30 countries, and sells exclusively through authorized partners. The company pioneered the world’s first RAID and tape backup systems.
