ASG-Digital Archive Updated for Media Industry
Instant ingest of LTFS media, archiving to S3 and Atmos, integration with Primestream Fork
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 9, 2014 at 2:35 pmASG Software Solutions announced updates to its archiving solution ASG-Digital Archive (ADA), including instant ingest of LTFS media for improved storage and organization of data, archiving to Amazon S3 and EMC Atmos for more efficient cloud storage, and integration with Primestream FORK 4.6 for more seamless media asset management.
Instant LTFS Media Ingest
Instant ingest of LTFS media to the archive enables customers to add LTFS media provided by subcontractors or partners to their central archive powered by ASG-Digital Archive in two clicks. The first adds the tape media to the tape library and the second instructs ADA to scan the LTFS media content for free storage space and add the files to the archive database. This saves users a lot of time and effort by eliminating the need to extract tape content to disk just to archive it to tape again, resulting in improved storage and organization of data and metadata.
Cloud-Based Archiving
With growing requests from small and large post-production companies to archive part of their data to the cloud, ASG has upgraded its integration with Atmos for medium and large companies looking to implement private cloud storage. And, to fulfill data archiving needs in the cloud, ASG has also added support for S3 cloud storage (via the S3 REST API) for small and medium volumes. With this integration, ADA is able to provide several complementary scenarios for DR in the cloud, making it an accessible solution for archive repositories.
Media Asset Management
To achieve more seamless media asset management, ASG has integrated ASG-Digital Archive with the latest version of Primestream’s suite FORK Production. The new version of the ADA plug-in for FORK leverages new capability provided by FORK Drones to offer more intimate and scalable integration between the two solutions to achieve a more complete, automated management framework for media companies.
“As the media industry continues to evolve, more and more companies are realizing the importance of having a secure archiving solution for their content and files,” said Armel Bilé, ASG-Digital Archive product manager. “We are providing state-of-the-art software that can satisfy everything from tape to cloud archiving requirements – and, it is our goal to ensure that we offer the necessary integrations and technologies to suit their needs. These three updates show our commitment to delivering the most valuable solution.”
About ASG-Digital Archive
ADA is a software archiving solution that can move and preserve massive volume of business data. As a very robust and highly scalable archiving platform, it integrates with existing storage solutions ranging from shared disk and NAS to tape and all the way to object storage and private or public cloud, so customers can easily combine their existing storage technology with the latest storage trends.
As an open archive solution, ADA preserves digital assets with their associated business metadata in open formats on disk (with the whole tree structure if needed) or on tape (PAX or LTFS) which guarantees the preservation of data over time.
It offers multiple and complementary modes for integrating the archiving with new or existing business workflows:
- User interface when archiving is done via drag and drop,
- Native integration with media and entertainment applications (Fork, CatDV, Interplay, Level Beyond, EVS, etc.) where the user can protect his work at the end of the day
- Automatic and scheduled archiving policies protecting newly ingested data
ADA is a match for volume intensive environments such as media post-production, science and research providing them with the archive solution that improves the scope and economics of their storage, while combining flexibility, robustness and scalability.
