Following the recent appointment of Justin Bock as Australia and New Zealand country manager, MapR is expanding its capabilities to support the growing demand by Australian companies to utilize big data as a competitive weapon.

MapR has expanded its footprint in the region during the last six months, establishing its AsiaPac HQs in Singapore and recently opening offices in Japan and Korea.

Our move to open an office in Melbourne, Australia is reflective of the keen interest that so many companies are expressing about Hadoop and particularly the value of MapR. Having Justin in Australia as country manager and establishing a growing Australian team on the ground means that we are now well equipped to assist our existing customers with their needs while capitalizing on the demand for our products and services in this market,” said Martin Darling, VP, AsiaPac, MapR.

Ken Boal, VP, Cisco Systems, Inc., Australia and New Zealand noted: “In Australia and New Zealand we see our top customers looking to deploy big data solutions in the near future, which requires a new application-centric approach to managing infrastructure. By partnering with MapR, we’re combining industry leading Apache Hadoop technology for big data with the Cisco Unified Computing System to provide our customers with a powerful and flexible infrastructure that will help increase business and IT agility, reduce TCO and deliver exceptional ROI.

MapR has also entered into a partnership with IT Service Provider Contexti.

For a number of years, enterprise customers in the US, Europe and Asia have been successfully monetizing their data assets using MapR software and services. Contexti is excited to be supporting MapR with our big data platform services, as they build their presence in the ANZ market,” said Sidney Minassian, founder and CEO, Contexti.
