Blancco: RMA-8 Appliance for Enterprise HDD and SSD Erasure
Compatible with SATA, SAS, FC and SCSI drives
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 27, 2014 at 2:56 pmIn data centers, failed return merchandise authorization drives are often physically destroyed or stored past return deadlines, invalidating the OEM warranty.
They may even be shipped backed to the OEM with sensitive data intact, presenting a security risk. To help data centers recoup replacement drive costs, Blancco Oy Ltd. has introduced its RMA-8 erasure appliance for loose enterprise drives.
“Swapping failed drives from a host system with new ones is a quick fix for keeping storage arrays and servers working optimally, but to achieve cost-effective operations, data centers should use OEM warranties for these ‘amber light’ drives,” said Markku Willgren, president, Blancco U.S. operations. “Our Blancco RMA-8 appliance securely and conveniently erases drives so that data centers can return them to OEMs within the required RMA timeframe.“
Pre-loaded with data erasure software, it erases SATA, SAS, FC, and SCSI drives, while creating erasure reports that maintain a tamper-proof audit trail. The appliance comes in four models, customized and preconfigured to suit an organization’s environment. It also erases SATA SSDs using patent-pending method.
“Blancco RMA-8 offers an easy, flexible and efficient process for securely capitalizing on OEM drive warranties,” said Willgren. “This means data centers reap big savings compared to buying new drives.“
