…And for SoftNAS Cloud

For Amazon EC2

SoftNAS LLC launched the SoftNAS 2.1 upgrade for SoftNAS Cloud for Amazon EC2.

It delivers features including cross-zone HA with elastic HA technology on AWS marketplace.

AWS Cross-Zone HA provides failover across Amazon EC2 availability zones for NFS and CIFS to provide non-stop storage operation for applications. It utilizes an enhanced elastic IP address to deliver up to 99.999% reliability and automatic failover within approximately 20s.

It supports HA with its SNAP HA add-on module, which allows HA cluster configuration in less than 2 minutes with three mouse clicks.

Additionally, the upgrade includes a cloud computing storage API and CLI, which makes it easy to integrate with AWS CloudFormation templates, auto-scaling groups, and other automation systems used by DevOps teams for agile cloud deployment. It is a NAS on AWS that supports all regions, instance types (PVM & HVM), Amazon S3 as a cloud disk, and Elastic Block Storage (EBS). Furthermore, data remains under the control of the customer’s own virtual private cloud.

DevOps teams are looking to automate everything possible and fulfill the promise of the cloud. The API and CLI, as well as the CloudFormation templates, make SoftNAS cloud the ideal storage component for DevOps use,” said Rick Braddy, SoftNAS CEO.

The upgrade also includes support for NFSv4 Kerberos and LDAP Support, which enables multi-user security access rights to files and directories managed by the filer, and improved NFS and CIFS performance and throughput tuning for enhanced read and write caching to increase IO/s.

Pricing for the upgrade will remain the same. It starts at $0.02 per hour per instance and is available on an hourly basis on AWS Marketplace across all Amazon EC2 regions, for up to 20TB per instance.

For customers, HA and SNAP HA will be included at no extra cost with use of two SoftNAS cloud instances configured for HA.
