Dell Acquires StatSoft

Dell, Inc. announced the acquisition of StatSoft, Inc., provider of advanced analytics solutions that deliver a range of data mining, predictive analytics and data visualization capabilities.

StatSoft combines statistical analysis with advanced analytics to help organizations better understand their businesses, predict change, increase agility and control critical systems.

The acquisition of StatSoft bolsters Dell Software’s portfolio of information management solutions, while further enhancing the company’s open approach to data management. StatSoft adds advanced analytics to a set of software capabilities that includes database management and optimization, application and data integration, and big data analytics, all underpinned by Dell’s software, storage, server and services offerings and industry relationships.

Data and information management is a strategic priority for Dell Software. According to Gartner, by 2015, more than 30% of analytics projects will deliver insights based on both structured and unstructured data. The addition of StatSoft fits with Dell Software’s strategy to offer a set of platform agnostic information management tools that empower companies to manage, integrate, and analyze data on-premises and in the cloud.

StatSoft delivers a range of advanced analytics tools that help organizations forecast future trends to identify new customers and sales opportunities, forecast industry shifts, explore ‘what-if’ scenarios, and reduce the occurrence of fraud and other business risks.
