Plan B From New Zealand Acquires Disaster Recovery Group

Auckland-based private cloud backup and recovery provider

Plan B Limited has reached agreement with the shareholders of Auckland-based private cloud backup and recovery provider Disaster Recovery Group (DRG) to acquire the business and assets of the company effective 1 April 2014.

It will be business as usual for DRG’s customers with all DRG staff being offered contracts by Plan B.

The acquisition is a complementary bolt-on to Plan B’s existing private cloud backup and replication business and is part of a wider acquisition strategy following a period of significant growth in the cloud services business over the past few years.

About Plan B
Plan B was founded in the late 1990’s as BC New Zealand Limited and renamed Plan B in 2003. It is a New Zealand’s provider of end-to-end BC Services, looking after the needs of more than 500 of New Zealand’s leading organisations and most recognised brands.

Services include New Zealand-based online backup, replication and recovery services, over 500 standby office seats nationwide, standby IT infrastructure, backup tape management, BC consulting and testing, data centre co-location, and server and system recovery testing (not simple file recoveries) for over 2,000 servers annually.

Headquartered on Auckland’s North Shore, Plan B also has facilities in Mt Wellington and Albany (Auckland), Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch.

Plan B’s board of directors include Gray Mathias,chairman, Ian Forrester,MD, Michael Stiassny and Andrew Bagnall.

The company is privately owned by New Zealand-domiciled shareholders.
