Aleratec Unveils Optical Disc Shredder ($83)
Destroying credit card, Blu-ray, DVD and CD, and paper
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 5, 2014 at 2:55 pmAleratec Inc. unveiled the latest defense against identity theft and fraud, the DVD/CD Shredder XC2.
Tailored for personal or home office use, it takes security to the next level by destroying credit cards, Blu-rays, DVDs and CDs, in addition to paper.
“Thieves are becoming more adept at recovering sensitive data from optical discs and credit cards as well as paper documents,” says Perry Solomon, Aleratec president and CEO. “Ordinary paper shredders may not be enough to protect you from identity theft and fraud.“
It accepts paper and credit cards and includes a separate feeding slot for Blu-rays, DVDs and CDs.
Capable of cross-cut shredding up to eight sheets of paper at time, it also cross-cut shreds credit cards so names and numbers are indiscernible to thieves and strip-cut shreds Blu-rays, DVDs and CDs so the data is unreadable.
Features:
- A 3.28-gallon basket for paper
- A one-quarter gallon basket for discs
- A shred speed of up to 7.55 feet/mn
- Automatic start and stop operation
It is part of a line products designed to protect individuals from identity theft and financial fraud.
Estimated retail price of $82.99 from resellers and distribution partners.
