CYA SmartRecovery Available for EMC Documentum
With content-only recovery
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 4, 2014 at 3:02 pmenChoice, Inc. announced that its CYA SmartRecovery BC solution for the EMC Documentum 7.x enterprise content management (ECM) platform provides a content-only recovery feature that reduces storage costs and IT staff workload by decreasing the frequency of traditional system backups.
Content-only recovery provides the ability to restore content that has been lost or corrupted due to a full system failure or disaster without rolling back the database.
Documentum backup strategies involve daily incremental backups and weekly full system backups. The same massive volumes of information are backed up over and over again, resulting in high storage costs, a significant administrative burden on the IT staff, and unacceptable downtime. By providing online, forever incrementals of the Documentum repository in conjunction with content-only recovery, CYA SmartRecovery enables companies to overcome these challenges by reducing the frequency of full system content backups, or eliminating daily incremental content backups. The solution complements existing backup strategies by working with EMC NetWorker, Symantec NetBackup, and Tivoli Storage Manager.
“Backup technologies have evolved over the past decade to meet changing business requirements, but most backup strategies have not followed suit,” said Mike Fernandes, VP, products, enChoice. “CYA SmartRecovery enables Documentum customers to leverage simple, efficient backup strategies that control storage costs, meet service levels, and improve IT staff productivity.“
The majority of data loss is caused by operational incidents such as user errors, programmatic errors, and corruptions that affect one, several, or thousands of repository objects. CYA SmartRecovery isa solution enabling one administrator to restore the lost or corrupt information to the repository without rolling back Documentum to a previous point in time and causing significant additional data loss. Customers can choose to recover complete objects, content only, or metadata only at a granular level.
The solution works with enterprise backup solutions to reduce data loss to less than 15 minutes in the event of a system failure or disaster.
