DeKalb County Police Department Chooses AMI StorTrends Array

DeKalb County Police Department, who collectively serve over 730,000 citizens in the Atlanta metropolitan area, choses StorTrends from American Megatrends, Inc. (AMI) when they needed a secure place to store evidence.

 DeKalb County Police Department

In recent years, the DeKalb County Police Department has had the daunting task of handling more than 2,500 arrests ranging from homicide to traffic violations. Every detail of these cases must be meticulously documented, which in turn generates a wealth of data that must be stored and safeguarded.

George Dalton, DeKalb County Police Department’s Departmental Microsystems specialist, decided to go with StorTrends during the search for a reliable array to store information specifically for the Police Department’s CSI unit.

Because we are a police department, we are required to keep all of our data. We simply needed an array that could scale with our growing demands,” says Dalton. “Especially with our crime scene unit – because they are the ones who take pictures, audio and video that we have to keep forever.

The array has been in heavy use at the DeKalb County Police Department and Dalton says that everything has been running flawlessly and is reliable – to the point that he has yet to contact the StorTrends support team for assistance.

The unit is performing exactly as promised and the interface is quite simple. The StorTrends array has been working well for the departments that we set it up for,” commented Dalton.

Because a virtually endless amount of data continues to stream in from multiple departments of the DeKalb County Police Department, the team has indicated a strong consideration towards StorTrends for future purchases of storage appliances.

“There is no doubt that I would purchase StorTrends again,” Dalton says.
