To protect 230 VMs

Zerto, Inc. helped Premier, Inc., an healthcare improvement company, enhance its BC and DR capabilities using Zerto Virtual Replication.

Premier, Inc

In May 2013, Premier installed Zerto Virtual Replication within 30 minutes and estimates that the solution has saved the company more than 90% of the time previously spent to manage its applications.

Premier implemented Zerto Virtual Replication to help protect its VMs and associated applications with greater reliability, flexibility and ease of use. Zerto Virtual Replication currently protects more than 230 VMs, including SQL Server, Java, production databases and web services, which host healthcare performance improvement applications for Premier’s alliance of more than 2,900 US hospitals and approximately 100,000 alternate facilities. Premier plans to protect more than 400 additional VMs with Zerto in the near future.

We have a large, ever-evolving IT environment and it’s crucial that all of our capabilities are easy to use and manage,” said Bob Lanning, senior systems engineer, Premier. “Zerto Virtual Replication lets us accomplish what we need to in DR. It’s easy to use, requires very little maintenance and it frees up our team to tackle projects that support our mission to improve healthcare. It’s like magic.

The hypervisor-based replication solution from Zerto fits into the company’s virtualization strategy and speeds up important DR processes. Zerto Virtual Replication ensures that both the data and the application are available at the primary and target sites, meaning that end-users have uninterrupted access to their healthcare applications.

Premier’s implementation demonstrates the robust, scalable BC/DR solution that Zerto provides for large enterprises, with fast application availability and greatly improved ease of use,” said Ziv Kedem, CEO, Zerto. “With hundreds of enterprise customers now using Zerto Virtual Replication in their production environments, Zerto is rapidly becoming the standard for DR in virtualized environments.

Moving DR to the hypervisor enables simple protection of complex medical and healthcare applications. Medical applications can be volatile, so typical third-party products cannot be used for DR. A hypervisor-based replication solution increases the stability of BC/DR and reduces complexity as it interacts with the hypervisor, not the application itself. Leveraging Zerto Virtual Replication in a healthcare environment delivers the service levels these organizations need, even while ensuring increased simplicity and ease of management.
