nScaled Increased Revenue by 40% in 2013

And doubling new customer acquisitions

nScaled, Inc., developer of all-in-one online backup, cloud storage and IT DR solution for BC, announced its 2013 results, doubling in its new customer acquisitions.

It achieved growth into new mid-market sectors such as healthcare and construction driven by continued product development and partnerships, including the roll out of a strategic partnership with NetApp, Inc.

We’re thrilled with the momentum we saw in 2013, which positioned us well coming into the new year,” said Bradley Kolb, new CEO. “Beyond increasing our new customer acquisitions, we also saw increased interest in DR as a Service from analysts who monitor critical technology deployments. There’s greater recognition today for the horizontal value of our platform, further validated by the increasing variety of our customer base.”

2013 Highlights

  • Annual Revenue: posted an increase of 40% year over year
  • New Customers: number of total subscribers also rose 40%.
  • Customer Retention: customer retention remained over 95% for the year
  • New Partners: rolled out a strategic partnership with storage leader NetApp, additionally taking on new channel partnerships with CDW LLC, SHI International Corp. and more.

We successfully crossed into new markets in 2013,” said Mark Jameson, VP sales. “While our early adopters were largely legal and venture capital firms, last year we took on new clients in industries ranging from chemical to construction to healthcare and more. We’ve got the fundamentals covered for helping mid-sized businesses get their environments protected. It’s part of why our retention rate has stayed over 95% since inception.”

In a recently published study (Forrester Research, Inc., The Forrester Wave: Disaster-Recovery-As-A-Service Providers, Q1 2014, by Rachel Dines, with Stephanie Balaouras and Heather Belanger), nScaled was cited among providers ranked as a leader. It received the highest score possible in the security, change management, growth and partnerships categories.

About the maturity of the technology sector itself, Ilya Beyer, CTO, noted: “At this point, the Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS) scene is solidly established. As it evolves customers are growing savvier about how much recoverability speed and scope they need as well as what features and functions they want.

Beyer added: “A year ago we saw many organizations trying to cobble together do-it-yourself solutions by and for themselves. Now we don’t see that happening as much, but we haven’t stood still either. We have been simultaneously driving developments and listening closely to requests and feedback in areas, for example, like automation and expanded security. We look forward to sharing more developments from our near-term roadmap soon.”
