PernixDrive Alliance Program by PernixData
To work with SSD vendors Intel, Kingston, Toshiba and others
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 11, 2014 at 2:16 pmPernixData, Inc. announced the creation of PernixDrive, a technology alliance program that brings vendors together for the advancement of server based flash storage architectures.
Through the PernixDrive program, PernixData is working with flash hardware vendors to ensure their products work with PernixData FVP, the Flash Hypervisor software.
In addition, the companies are collaborating on ways to maximize the gains achieved when storage performance is decoupled from storage capacity using server side flash, which includes substantially faster application performance, improved storage array utilization, and lower infrastructure costs.
“PernixDrive is heralding a new era in storage design by combining virtualization with server side flash in a completely seamless fashion,” said Jeff Aaron, VP marketing at PernixData. “We are working closely with our partners to deliver robust joint solutions that are easy to deploy and scale, and deliver quantifiable benefits that blow the doors off traditional storage architectures.”
Elements of PernixDrive program include:
- Product interoperability testing and performance benchmarking.
- Engineering collaboration for advanced product development.
- Programs that facilitate joint trials.
- Tools that simplify deployment and quantify real-world benefits of a combined solution.
- Joint educational activities, such as webinars and luncheons.
“IT organizations are consistently challenged with managing massive data growth and increasingly virtualized environments that require improved storage performance without increasing costs or complexity,” said Pete Hazen, director of marketing, non-volatile memory solutions group, Intel Corp. “Intel’s Data Center Family of SSDs complement PernixData FVP product to deliver fast, reliable and consistent performance that leverages existing infrastructures for easy deployment and greater cost-efficiency.”
“By deploying Kingston Enterprise SSDs with PernixData’s Flash Hypervisor software, customers receive substantially more IO/s at a fraction of the cost of existing storage arrays,” said Ariel Perez, SSD business manager, Kingston Technology Corp. “We are pleased to work with PernixData on various joint marketing, sales and engineering initiatives to further the adoption of this game-changing storage technology.”
“FVP is a great complement to Toshiba SSDs*, improving the performance of virtualized applications while ensuring seamless VM mobility,” said Don Jeanette, senior director of marketing, Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc., storage products business unit. “By working with PernixData, we are paving the way for a new storage paradigm designed for the virtual generation.”
