Case Study by Two MSPs for StorageCraft Backup Solutions

It did not take long for businesses to reap the benefits of the partnership between StorageCraft Technology Corporation and Advanced Backup Solutions, Inc. (ABS).

A case study describes how two MSPs – both using the ABS Enterprise data protection and DR platform powered by StorageCraft ShadowProtect software – quickly restored operations for clients who experienced a serious loss of access to their systems and data.

The case study features the efforts of ABS certified partners Decian, Inc. in Connecticut and New Hampshire-based RMON Networks, Inc.. Both MSPs had clients who lost access to their servers due to hardware failure. Not only did the MSPs quickly restore the data, their clients were able to use the ABS Enterprise data protection and DR platform to run the computer systems until replacement hardware was delivered weeks later.

“The integration of StorageCraft’s ShadowProtect technology into our enterprise ABS Continuity Appliance, located at the client’s site, enabled quick failover to a virtual instance of the downed machines, while maintaining production-level performance until the MSPs provisioned the new hardware,” said Josh Dube, CTO, ABS.

In addition to highlighting the reliable, quick backup and recovery solution that the ABS and StorageCraft partnership provides to MSPs, the case study re-enforces the fact that disaster can strike at any time.

“These companies experienced a loss of access to their systems and data during good weather, when it was not expected,” said Curt James, VP marketing and business development, StorageCraft. “Decian and RMON Networks quickly recovered their clients’ systems and data, allowing them to maintain business operations with minimal impact. They were able to achieve this because they had an efficient, trustworthy backup and recovery solution made available through the ABS and StorageCraft partnership.“

Through the partnership, announced in October, ABS integrated ShadowProtect software into its line of backup and DR (BDR) continuity appliances and offsite DR infrastructure. ABS Enterprise offers MSPs an enterprise BDR solution with integrated onsite/offsite backup and restore for BC. The licensed StorageCraft technology enables local recovery and offsite replication of data providing protection for a single server or entire IT infrastructure.

ABS licensed the following ShadowProtect software: ShadowProtect Server, ShadowProtect Small Business Server and ShadowProtect Desktop, as well as the recent  ShadowProtect Granular Recovery for Exchange 8.

In September, ShadowProtect Desktop received its third consecutive Editors’ Choice Award for Backup Software from PC Magazine, and ShadowProtect Granular Recovery for Exchange won the Best of TechEd 2013 award in the Messaging and Unified Communication category in June.
