Tintri Records 115% Sales Increase From 2012 to 2013

And doubles enterprise customer base.

Tintri, Inc. completed 2013 with record results.

It ended the past year more than doubling its enterprise customer base worldwide, which collectively runs more than 100,000 VMs in full production.

Additionally, close to 70% of Tintri customers made repeat purchases.

Sales grew on both year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter metrics, culminating in a 115% sales increase for the year.

The company’s performance was fueled by changes in the industry including customer interest in intelligent flash-based storage, which seamlessly integrates virtualization and application layers and reduces CAPEX and management costs.

Tintri’s application-aware storage solutions attracted global enterprise companies across industries including the George Washington University, MillerCoors, Nedbank and Rogers Communications.

Tintri brought amazing change of perception for how we can leverage and scale out our architecture,” said Jared Wright, director of IT operations, Switchfly. “Before, we were constantly fighting allocating storage, dealing with performance issues and managing it all. Since Tintri was installed, most of that has dissolved and everything is “set it and forget it.” Tintri is rock-solid and performing off the charts. We are going to continue to invest in Tintri at this point since they continue to innovate and provide a high level of ROI.

It’s incredibly exciting to achieve so many new milestones in 2013,” said Ken Klein, chairman and CEO, Tintri. “We are thrilled to see the rapid adoption of our new Tintri T600 series as well as the exceptional rate of customers’ repeat purchases. Our results are a clear validation that customers are looking beyond traditional or generic flash-based storage and instead focusing on solutions that simplify storage management and improve data management automation for virtualized environments.”

Tintri 2013 Highlights

Leadership

  • Tintri expanded its executive team in 2013, with additions that included:
  • Ken Klein, chairman and CEO, board member since 2011, was formerly the CEO of Wind River Systems and COO of Mercury Interactive.
  • Tom Ellery, SVP of WW sales, formerly VP of Americas Sales at Brocade and also held key management positions at EMC.
  • Ian Halifax, CFO, served as CFO at Host Analytics, Wind River Systems, Micromuse and Macrovision.

Product
The company introduced the next generation VMstore T600 Series in October. The Series requires no ongoing administration to deliver storage performance for as many as 2,000 VMs per system with sub-millisecond I/O latencies. Less than two months after it became available, the T600 series represents more than 60% of Tintri’s revenue.

The company also announced Tintri Global Center (TGC), a control platform that provides a new architecture for global administration and scaling. TGC enables multiple Tintri VMstore systems to be monitored and administered as one, providing visibility to all VMs stored. The T600 Series and TGC are complemented by Tintri ReplicateVM launched earlier in the year, for per-VM storage-side data protection.

Customer Adoption
Numerous customers expanded their deployments in 2013. Close to half of customers deployed multiple systems and many run more than hundreds of critical VMs on a system.

While customers continue to run a range of virtualized enterprise applications and virtualized desktops on Tintri, cloud has become one of the fastest growing segments with 221% growth year over year. Public and private cloud service providers chose Tintri for the VM-level granularity, which protects individual VMs with customizable policies and assured SLAs. With no more need to provision LUNs and volumes, Tintri makes it for cloud providers to add VMs as they scale from hundreds to thousands of VMs.

International Expansion
The year-end finish represented year-over-year and sequential growth across all geographies. With new sales leaders on board including long time industry veterans Doug Rich, VP of EMEA sales, and Peter Molloy, VP of APAC sales, Tintri plans to expand its global presence. In addition to adding more sales teams in North America, EMEA and Japan, Tintri will soon open new sales offices in Australia, Singapore and other countries.

Partners
Tintri was named to CRN’s 2013 5-Star Partner Program Guide and recognized as a CRN Emerging Vendor for being one of the most innovative vendors that not only delivers technology that is easy to use, but also generates high margins for solutions providers.

Tintri continues to invest in growing its international presence by working with strategic partners.

Tintri has developed significant relationships with a global network of leading solution providers such as Vion Corp. in the United States, BEarena Pty Ltd in Australia, Dimension Data in South Africa, and Wen Wei Technology CO. Ltd. in Taiwan.

Tintri introduced VDI Reference Architecture For VMware Horizon View 5.2. Testing at VMware labs validated the architecture for 1,000 simultaneous VDI users at ultrabook level performance from a single Tintri storage appliance. With no tuning or special configuration, Tintri went from power-on to storing its first VM in only eight minutes, and 1,000 desktops were fully deployed in an one hour and two minutes.

Tintri joined the Cisco Developer Network as a Registered Developer and completed Cisco Interoperability Verification Testing with Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS).

Standing apart from other storage systems, the Tintri’s storage system requires no special configuration or tuning out of the box.
