Swissbit Presents Class 6 SD and Micro SD Cards

Swissbit AG presents its S-40 and S-40u Series SD and Micro SD memory cards for TCO-optimised applications.

These SD and Micro SD cards feature autonomous data refresh that requires no intervention by the host or application. Thanks to algorithms, the memory cards deliver up to one hundred times longer data retention than conventional SD memory cards.   

S-40 (SD) and S-40u (Micro SD) memory cards are equipped with read disturb management alongside an autonomous background ‘auto refresh’ process. This type of data care management improves data reliability and balances out the limitations of MLC NAND flash during long operation time and use in the field.

Data transfer rates reach up to 11MB/s for write and up to 24MB/s for read operations, putting them into SD 3.0 speed class 6. Diagnostic functions offering detailed status information plus standalone data maintenance guarantee data retention for many years, even in especially rough environmental conditions and in extreme temperatures. Both memory cards prevent read disturb bit errors even in intensive read applications. Users benefit from the shortest possible downtimes thanks to an extended operating life in the field and long data reliability.    

Selected hardware, materials and production processes in automotive conditions ensure that the SD and Micro SD cards are of high quality. The controller offers ECC which employs firmware architecture and supports future MLC generations. The firmware can be updated as required.

The series have been optimised for challenging applications where data is primarily called up for reading, such as automotive/navigation, infotainment and POI/POS applications.

S-40 SD cards are available up to 32GB; S-40u Micro SD cards are available from 4GB up to 16GB.

Depending on the project size, the company is able to realise customer-specific modifications with virtually no limitations.
