Avere Experiences Triple-Digit Bookings in 2013

And 150% Y/Y growth in 4Q13

Avere Systems, Inc. experienced substantial growth and momentum in 2013 in the key areas of bookings, customer acquisition and product innovation.

The explosion in the scale, complexity and cost of data in the enterprise combined with the adoption of cloud solutions has left organizations grappling with how to build and grow their storage infrastructure. Avere’s advancements in storage solutions last year removed the barriers for companies leveraging storage in the cloud as well as on-premises data centers, without compromising performance, availability or security.

The success of the company this past year is a direct result of the remarkable work our team provides – day in and day out – to our diverse customer base,” said Ron Bianchini, CEO, Avere. “Our customers are faced with the challenge of storing massive amounts of critical data and want to be able to access it in the most efficient way possible without sacrificing performance, regardless of whether the data is on premises and/or in the cloud. We are solving significant problems for our customers everyday – by providing the flexibility that legacy storage vendors can’t.”

Achievements in Sales and Customer Acquisition
Avere achieved record bookings growth in 2013 – 100% year-over-year growth in the second half of 2013 and more than 150% year-over-year growth in Q4 2013 – of its solutions to help customers improve the efficiency and performance of their storage infrastructure. With this growth, the company has strengthened its customer base.

Who uses Avere?

  • The top 12 blockbuster movies of 2013 for special effects
  • Three of nine largest technology companies for mission-critical applications
  • 50% of the supermajor oil and gas companies in the quest for oil
  • The Library of Congress website for all digital media
  • The largest South American service provider for web hosting, Locaweb Serviços de Internet S/A

Much of the success in Avere’s growth can be attributed to the company’s product innovations in 2013. With the FXT 3800, the company introduced an industry-first in the development of the next generation of storage. This hybrid Edge filer, containing both SSD media and SAS HDDs, provides customers with the performance and cost benefits of a hybrid approach that can match all four media tiers of storage to the data being accessed with accuracy.

With the recent release of Avere Cloud NAS, the firm is enabling enterprises to leverage the potential of cloud storage by removing adoption roadblocks, particularly fears about unreliable performance due to high latency and data availability. Cloud NAS provides a solution that ensures customers’ existing on-premises storage systems are integrated with cloud storage, removing the risk of sacrificing performance, availability or security of their data. Also noteworthy was the introduction of Avere FlashCloud software, integrating legacy NAS with Amazon S3 and Glacier services into a single global namespace that presents a unified view of all files via NAS protocols.

The FXT 3800 also achieved record SPECsfs2008 NFS results, continuing Avere’s history of beating out solutions from EMC and NetApp, and demonstrating how Avere’s edge-core architecture delivers application performance to any NAS environment – at a fraction of the cost of those legacy incumbents.

New Executives
The addition of several executive team members contributed to Avere’s sales achievements and storage product leadership in 2013. With the appointment of Michael McMahon as VP sales and business development, it enhanced its sales team and capitalized on his experience growing revenues and strategic partnerships for international software companies.

The addition of former HP executive Dave Stephenson as VP of engineering has been a factor in product development and innovation. His expertise in storage product development has enabled to further build upon the company’s edge-core storage architecture.
