Wave Security Protection for Samsung 840 Evo Opal SSDs

With Cloud and EMBASSY Remote Administration Server

Wave Systems Corp. is offering complete management of Samsung’s 840 EVO SSDs to deliver stronger security and data protection.

Wave Cloud and EMBASSY Remote Administration Server (ERAS) were both validated by Samsung for the drives, which support the Trusted Computing Group (TCG)’s industry-standard Opal specification.

The new Samsung drives deliver improved sequential read and write speeds using the compact 10nm class 128GB high-performance NAND flash memory. With up to 1TB of capacity, the 840 EVO series offers high storage volume and performance, even on ultra-slim notebooks.

The release marks a step forward in the adoption of the Opal TCG standard.

Enterprises and SMBs need powerful ways to secure their data, and the 840 EVO series meets their security requirements in today’s sophisticated threat environment,” said Jennifer Langan, director of mobility product marketing, Samsung’s enterprise business division. “The Samsung 840 EVO series uses hardware-based security to offer best-in-class performance and data protection, and global companies will enjoy the benefits of the 840 EVO drives, combined with Wave’s expertise in data protection.”

When paired with Wave’s EMBASSY Remote Administration Server (ERAS) or Wave Cloud 2014, the drives give enterprises improved security and manageability capabilities. ERAS is a management solution that delivers drive initialization, user management, drive locking, user recovery and crypto erase for all Opal-based, proprietary and solid-state SEDs, while Wave Cloud 2014 is a cloud-management solution for SEDs.

Samsung has demonstrated its commitment to data security and performance through the 840 EVO drives, giving end-users strong assurance that their sensitive data is safe and secure,” said Wave CEO Bill Solms. “Wave is honored to support Samsung’s new drive series and to have our management suite validated by Samsung.

The combined solution will be made available to customers through channel partners such as CDW and SHI, as well as OEMs.
