LenovoEMC px4-400d: Faster 4-Bay Desktop NAS

This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 6, 2014 at 2:50 pmLenovoEMC Ltd announced the worldwide availability of the px4-400d Network Storage, a high performance four-bay desktop NAS that delivers data protection plus local and remote content sharing utilizing the the LenovoEMC LifeLine OS.
Debuting at 2014 CES tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV, it utilizes hot swap 7,200rpm SATA-III server class drives in a compact form factor with up to 16TB in storage capacity (4x4TB) and up to 25% higher data read and write performance than the previous generation of product.
In Europe, Latin America and AsiaPac, the px4-400d is also available in a Pro Series utilizing economical standard HDDs.
The diskless version is available worldwide.
Compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux devices, the px4-400d is powered by the LifeLine OS, which incorporates standard network storage capabilities as well as many business features that professional users expect, including built-in cloud technology, remote access, virtualization, data replication, device-to-device copy jobs, RAID support, SSD support. New hardware features include HDMI, eSATA and USB 3.0 ports.
Third-party applications from software developers will automatically appear as an icon in the LifeLine OS system management interface when they are released, including EMC Avamar backup client, McAfee VirusScan Enterprise, ATI Lite from Acronis or the optional (for an added fee) Acronis Backup & Recovery for LenovoEMC NAS (ABR), as well as Milestone Arcus Video Surveillance.

The user interface for the px4-400d is localized for 18 languages. Out-of-the-box certifications include Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012 R2, vSphere ESX 5.5 iSCSI and NAS, XenServer 6.1, 6.2 (w/ MPIO), iSCSI & NFS.
The px4-400d Network Storage is available worldwide. Pricing starts at approximately $729 for the diskless model. Both the Server Class Series and Pro Series utilizing standard HDDs are available populated with either 1TB, 2TB, 3TB or 4TB HDDs.
