In response to Symantec’s move to discontinue its Backup Exec.cloud service in the next month, Carbonite Inc. is offering those who’ll be left unprotected the equivalent subscription for free with proof of the expiring subscription.

How do the services compare?

  • Only pay for what you use: Carbonite offers plans to backup workstations only (starting at $269.99), servers only ($799.99), and servers and workstations ($999.99).  Plus you get more features, without spending more money.
  • Sync and Share: Employees can keep working across all of their devices.
  • More platforms: Carbonite backups both Macs and Windows PCs – Symantec only backups Windows PCs.
  • Coverage for more databases/live applications:
  • Backup Exec.cloud backups Exchange and SQL
  • Carbonite backups Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, MySQL and Oracle
