Iaso Updates Online Backup
Includes virtual DR and integration with ConnectWise.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 4, 2013 at 2:37 pmIASO, part of the GFI Software family, announced the latest version of IASO Online Backup.
It includes virtual DR technology, data protection for virtual environments and native integration with ConnectWise professional services automation (PSA) tools.
Using the disk-to-disk-to-cloud model, it provides backup and recovery of digital assets across main computing platforms. Its technology backups millions of files, servers and workstations worldwide, and ensures data is protected and available at all times.
This version includes expanded platform coverage, with support for Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8.1, Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks and vSphere 5.5. With the solution’s Virtual DR technology, customers are able to recover failed Windows systems as a VMware ESXi 4.1 or vSphere 5.x compatible VM. The ability to perform a system restore via a VM Disk automates DR and provides increased data accessibility, as customers no longer have to wait until a failed physical machine is repaired or a new one is purchased.
“IASO Online Backup’s Virtual DR technology is a tremendous competitive differentiator,” said Thomas Campbell, product manager, Redstor Limited, an IASO partner. “It expedites data recovery in the event of a system failure, and it’s extremely flexible. Users can restore to a flat file, so they don’t need a full VMware estate to benefit from this functionality. Additionally, we now have the opportunity to offer standby VMs to our customers. In the event of a disaster, the machines simply need to be turned on and customers will have immediate access to their servers. This combination of innovation and flexibility truly keeps data protected and available when companies need it most.”
It also includes direct billing integration with ConnectWise PSA tools, in addition to virtualization and automation solutions from Autotask and Parallels. Combined with remote monitoring and management functionality, this integration enables services providers to monitor storage utilization and automate customer billing through their PSA software, reducing the time and steps involved in managing account billing.
“Many companies are turning to the cloud for their backup and recovery needs because it offers reduced costs, ease of use and extreme scalability,” said Andy Langsam, EVP sales and operations, GFI Software. “IASO Online Backup builds upon these core benefits with unrivaled technology. With IASO, customers don’t have to sacrifice performance and functionality for affordability and simplicity. They truly receive the best of both worlds.”
Available, the solution’s storage-based licensing works on a SPLA model, which is based on used gigabytes posted from the storage server at the end of every month. Customers receive unlimited server clients, workstation clients, storage licenses and application plug-ins, as well as free software updates.
