It has been witnessed that SATA based SSDs are most commonly used for laptops or notebooks, whereas SAS based SSDs are predominantly used for server hardware systems. On the other hand, introduction of mSATA PCIe based SSDs are being extensively used in tablet and desktop PCs. mSATA based SSDs’ growth has also contributed to laptop PCs market because of its compact size and cost-effective pricing.
In 2012, China’s SSD market has been dominated by SATA-based SSDs, where 2.5-inch uits with 128GB of storage type was in huge demand.
