Aquantia 10GBASE-T Featured in Skyera SSD System
For faster Ethernet connectivity
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 26, 2013 at 2:34 pmAquantia Corp., developer of Ethernet connectivity solutions, announced that its AQ1202 40nm dual-port 10GBASE-T PHY is being deployed in Skyera, Inc.‘s skyHawk series of enterprise solid-state storage systems.
As the data center transition to 10 GbE is accelerating, 10GBASE-T, the IEEE standard for 10GE over copper twisted pair is emerging as the fastest growing physical layer of choice by network engineers and IT professionals.
10GBASE-T is indeed projected to grow by a factor of 4.5 in 2013 compared to the previous year, as reported by Crehan Research.
Demand for 10GE and 10GBASE-T in particular has been primarily driven by deployments in data center-class servers and switches. Increasing performance requirements and the advent of solid-state storage is now accelerating the demand for 10GBASE-T connectivity in storage systems as well. SSD systems being led by Skyera punctuates 10GBASE-T as the 10GE media of choice in enterprise and data center networks.
The patent-protected architecture Aquantia has developed over the years has allowed the company to deliver to its customers the high performance, power efficient and mature 10GBASE-T PHY solution. With shipments to the data center market well exceeding that of all its competitors combined, Aquantia has established itself as the leader in this fast growing market segment.
“Aquantia is proud to have been selected by Skyera for the implementation of 10GBASE-T in its skyHawk Solid-State storage systems,” said Kamal Dalmia, VP sales and marketing, Aquantia.
The skyHawk boasts the most advanced NAND (MAN) flash – advanced MLC NAND flash – mounted on storage blades for performance that clocks in at 25 times the speed of conventional HDD-based storage solutions and 10 times faster than other solid-state solutions.
skyHawk leads in capacity, and with an integrated set of storage software tools, it meets the demand of enterprise customers.
With its memory and controller design, flash degradation is minimized and durability is maximized without increasing costs: skyHawk is available for $2.99 per usable gigabyte, compared to $5-$9 per usable gigabyte of other SSD systems.
“Integral to the efficiency of skyHawk is eliminating network bottlenecks while simplifying data access, and Aquantia provides us with the exceptional connectivity that meets the needs of higher-performing solid-state storage,” said Radoslav Danilak, CEO and co-founder, Skyera.
