Qsan Brings Out AegisSAN Q500 Series
With QLogic 16Gb FC
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 20, 2013 at 2:37 pmQsan Technology Inc. announced its AegisSAN Q500 series, which is performance-boosted by QLogic Corp.‘s 16Gb FC technology to offer a SAN to SMBs.
Designed to lower the TCO and enable increased availability and reliability, the array features Intel’s low-power SoC, the atom-based SAN solution with the benefits of increased energy efficiency.
The five models in this series include the AegisSAN Q500-P10, Q500-P20, Q500-F20, the Q500-F21 and Qsan’s FC SAN solution, the Q500-F30.
In response to the increasing demands for greater storage capacity, more VMs and cloud deployments, the model Q500-F30 adopts 16Gb FC silicon to double the bandwidth to the host, achieve faster transaction rates and maximise the performance potential for storage platforms. It is characterised by two 16Gb FC ports plus two 1GbE iSCSI ports for faster bandwidth and higher throughput. Designed to offer performance to SMBs, The AegisSAN Q500 array offers features such as dual active controllers, redundant and modular hardware components, hardware RAID and multiple paths / load balancing functions for applications.
“QLogic Gen 5 FC technology helps the Qsan AegisSAN Q500 systems to support the growing bandwidth requirements of today’s highly virtualised data centres, which need maximum I/O capacity to support mission-critical business applications,” said Pohan Chang, VP, WW OEM sales, QLogic. “QLogic’s innovative multi-port isolation architecture provides true hardware redundancy, scalable performance and the ultimate in reliability, while the QLogic target mode development platform enables Qsan to reduce development cycles and accelerate time-to-market for advanced storage solutions.”
“The AegisSAN Q500 series offers a suite of enterprise features yet remains cost-effective for budget-constrained organisations. The introduction of QLogic’s16G FC silicon in Qsan’s AegisSAN Q500-F30 enables the system to meet the requirements of the most data-demanding business applications, while maintaining reliability and unrivalled availability. The 16G FC interface, Q500-F30 is ideal for latency-sensitive applications and virtualised environments,” said Daniel, sales director, Qsan. “FC connections support backward compatibility with existing 4Gb and 8Gb FC infrastructure and the new AegisSAN Q500 series provides great price-performance, which renders its performance unmatched in the industry.”
The AegisSAN Q500 system supports virtualisation technologies including VMware VAAI, Citrix and Hyper-V. With VAAI certification; the disk array can offload server and network loading, speed up provisioning of new VMs and increase VM density. It also provides its QThin thin provisioning feature so that organisations can avoid allocated but unused storage and be able to purchase only the disk capacity they actually need. In addition, it has add-ons such as writable snapshot, remote replication and battery backup module.
