AC&NC: JetStor 780JH JBOD Systems
Up to 480TB in 4U
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 20, 2013 at 2:39 pmAdvanced Computer & Network Corporation introduced the JetStor SAS 780JH family of JBOD platforms to address such demands as big data, Hadoop, HPC, ZFS, and Windows Server 2012 projects.
The rack-mounted solutions are designed for data-intensive environments that require large capacity and robust operation in a chassis.
The platform features 80 hot-swappable drive bays and simultaneously supports high-bandwidth SAS2.0 and SATA-3 drives to deliver the best performance at the lowest cost. They deploy the SAS2.0 technology for 6Gb/s performance through 4x mini SAS external connections, making them also tailored for applications like data archiving, disk-to-disk backups, and audio and video streaming that must capture and store quantities of data without the capacity constraints of RAID arrays.
“With so many enterprises struggling with torrents of data, AC&NC is delighted to offer such effective solutions as the JetStor SAS 780JH platforms,” said Gene Leyzarovich, president, AC&NC. “They target challenging use cases like Hadoop analytics and HPC that need maximum disk utilization and bullet-proof reliability in a very compact form factor.”
Rugged, Modular Design
The family is comprised of the JetStor SAS 780JH with a single SAS2 JBOD controller and the JetStor SAS 780JHD with redundant active/active controllers for demanding needs. Both platforms feature a modular architecture that is engineered for non-stop operation and reduced ownership costs.
Their cableless design maximizes signal integrity for reliability. Features like four 650W high-efficiency, redundant, hot-swappable power supplies with integrated turbo-cooling and separate power connections provide system tolerance against any component failure. Data remains online when drives are replaced and capacity increased, and data is rebuilt on new drives. Intelligent airflow and thermal management enhance energy efficiency and a central management utility allows enterprises to monitor multiple units for storage troves that can be petabytes in size.
To enhance availability, the solutions enable proactive maintenance by issuing SNMP or SMTP email notifications of all system events. They also use SCSI Enclosure Services to monitor enclosure and disk environmental conditions and provide component diagnostics.
The JetStor SAS 780JH platforms ship with a three-year warranty that covers all components.
