Cloud-Ready Predatar Data Protection Tool Updated

To support Tivoli Storage Manager V7.1

Following the launch of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) V7.1, the storage management and data protection specialist Silverstring Ltd. will release a new cloud edition of its Predatar application.

The latest enterprise-ready version of the tool provides a cloud-based management layer which complements the core TSM product, with additional services such as metering and billing, reporting and provisioning.

The self-service portal can be used by business stakeholders or application owners to collaborate with technical teams, making it for enterprise use, as well as supporting managed services and cloud providers.

IBM’s comprehensive TSM data protection builds on proven trusted foundations with a leap forward in performance and versatility,” says IBM director of storage software Ian Smith. “The TSM 7.1 platform contains an innovative ecosystem that allows the transparent, relevant addition of cloud-based analytics through a simple, intuitive operations interface. Predatar unlocks these enhancements by bringing a universal management and analytics-interpretation layer built on Silverstring’s proven integration expertise and knowledge.”

Predatar CEO Alistair Mackenzie adds: “TSM V7.1 is great for companies that are looking to create scalable cloud-based data protection solutions. To support this, the latest version of Predatar has been updated to provide technical users with advanced, service-oriented functions. The introduction of a collaborative portal in V8.1 also helps business users by making TSM investments more accessible and transparent. As well as providing a forum for requests, it can also be used for management reporting, chargeback and analytics.”

Predatar is the flagship solution of IBM Business Partner Silverstring and provides a suite of cloud-based applications to reduce the costs and risks associated with storage and backup.
