New EMC Data Protection Suite Support
for Latest Microsoft Enterprise Releases
EMC and Microsoft have enjoyed a 15-year alliance that includes shared equipment and technology in our labs, and a cooperative support agreement with over 2,700 consultants worldwide – It’s been a ‘suite’ relationship, indeed.
Microsoft recently announced the release of Windows Server 2012 R2 and System Center 2012 R2 as well as the Windows Azure Pack. EMC announced that the EMC Data Protection Suite offers support for these new Microsoft environments for our joint customers who are transforming their IT.
Microsoft’s new releases provide a consistent experience across on-premises, service provider clouds, and the public cloud. The Windows Azure Pack runs on top of System Center 2012 R2 and Windows Server 2012 R2, delivering a Windows Azure-consistent, self-service cloud-based infrastructure. Together, these new products empower companies to create datacenters without boundaries using Hyper-V for high-scale virtualization.
EMC Data Protection for Microsoft
The EMC Data Protection Suite, which for backup includes Avamar, NetWorker, and Data Protection Advisor, offers seamless support for Microsoft-based private and hosted clouds, providing complete protection with the scalable, data protection solutions.
As clear as an ‘Azure’ sky, the Data Protection Suite helps streamline and automate the backup and recovery of Microsoft environments. And, with flexible licensing and deployment alternatives, customers and service providers alike can choose the options that best suit their needs, and provide the SLAs users demand, while also reducing costs.
The automation capabilities delivered by the Data Protection Suite offer advantages. When the Windows Azure Pack is deployed, any newly provisioned Windows Server Hyper-V VMs are automatically assigned a data protection policy, helping to simplify management, improve SLAs and lower TCO. Virtualization and cloud administrators can easily recover private-cloud-based VMs and also perform file-level recoveries with the Data Protection Suite.
EMC solutions for the protection of Windows Azure Pack also leverage Data Domain systems and DD Boost software. Together they enable globally distributed deduplication and high-performance, proxy-based image backup. New Data Protection Suite features include multi-proxy support, and 2-5 times faster backups for Microsoft environments.
The cloud is transforming the way enterprises provide IT services. Data Protection remains in lock-step with Microsoft advancements, and has now been taken to the next level with support for Microsoft’s new enterprise offerings.
