Via partnership with Luminex Software
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 7, 2013 at 2:05 pmRecovery Point, Systems, Inc., a national provider of integrated DR and BC solutions to commercial organizations across all industries, as well as to federal, state and local government agencies, announces Mainframe Cloud Recovery as a Service, via strategic partnership with Luminex Software, Inc.
Recovery Point has added a solution for IBM mainframes to its cloud-based backup and recovery portfolio. It combines virtual tape technology from Luminex, with a network and secure hosting infrastructure to make the solution affordable for a range of mainframe clients.
The Recovery as a Service (RaaS) solution eliminates physical tape-based restores as the primary method of application recovery, allowing transmission of mainframe data over the network without the need for channel extension, resulting in improved RPOs and RTOs, versus physical tape based backup and recovery.
“The days of trucking hundreds of mainframe backup tapes to a DR site are over,” says Recovery Point president Marc Langer. “High-performance cloud storage and recovery services for the mainframe are now available on a simplified and competitive basis via the Luminex technology, and we are already working with Luminex to implement this solution for a number of our clients.”
“Luminex’s partnership with Recovery Point represents a win for mainframe customers of every size and budget looking to improve their DR plan,” says Arthur Tolsma, CEO, Luminex. “Luminex’s industry-leading Channel Gateway solutions, coupled with Recovery Point’s experience and focus on Recovery as a Service, ensures that each customer gains the maximum benefits of reduced RPO and RTO with increased reliability.“
