DNUK Rolls Out Zetavault V3.0 ZFS Storage Platform

With integration of OpenZFS file system

Digital Networks UK Ltd has released version 3.0 of the Zetavault storage platform.

It’s a Linux-based ZFS storage software platform with enterprise features which allows to turn commodity hardware into centralized storage servers with cost savings. It eliminates vendor lock-in and provides open, unified storage management with less cost than what traditional storage vendors charge.

The software can be installed on any 64-bit X86 system on which Linux can be installed.

A free 60-day trial version is available to download.

It includes integration with OpenZFS. ZFS is a file system and logical volume manager that changes the way file systems are administered, with features and benefits not found in any other file system. ZFS is scalable and easy to administer. It provides space for files, improved administration and data integrity and security.

The platform provides unified storage for SAN and NAS. For block based SAN storage, iSCSI, FC and IB SRP protocols are supported. For file based NAS storage, NFS, CIFs and FTP protocols are supported. It supports any combination of IP, FC or IB network fabrics on the same system at the same time.

The software is VMware Ready and Citrix Ready.

It has a continuous data replication feature with automatic failover. For IP-based storage services – iSCSI, NFS and CIFS – it is possible to ‘live migrate’ the services from one node to another without disruption to the storage clients. This increases availability of the system since there is no need to plan downtime for kernel or firmware updates to the system or to perform hardware maintenance.

A web-based application is used for management. The application supports PCs, phones and tablets.
