67 Exhibitors at SNW Europe 2013

SNW Europe, to take place in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, on October 29-30 2013, celebrates its tenth anniversary in the country and will probably be about the same size as the former shows the last three years.

It’s part of several events under the title of Powering The Cloud including also Datacenter Technologies and Virtualization World and organized by Angel Business Communications with SNIA and Computerworld.

Up to now 67 booths have been reserved. They were 72 in 2010, 70 in 2011 and a record of 73 last year. 1,647 attendees participated in 2012, the record being 1,854 in 2011.

After last year’s show, we asked the question on the event: “Reaching a limit?” It is in term of number of companies exhibiting and visitors, but it continues to be the largest “international” show on storage in the world. But, as usual, we think the organizers do not invest enough in marketing in each European countries to get more visitors who are in majority from Germany only at Frankfurt since ten years. Just the press room is filled with people from many European countries.

SNW Fall last October 15-17 in Long Beach, CA was a disaster with only two Gold sponsors (Riverbed and Sepaton) and 10 vendors contributing. SNW Fall, April 2-4, in Orlando, FL, was a little better with 27 exhibitors. Another even is scheluded at about the same time in Europe, Storage Expo, in Utrecht, The Netherlands, on October 30-31, 2013, with 93 (!) storage exhibitors, including EMC, HDS and IBM, organized by VNU Exhibitions Europe.

In Frankfurt will be missing the three storage giants EMC, HDS, IBM, but among the other big ones Dell, HP and Oracle/Sun are there as Platinum sponsors, and NetApp as Gold sponsor.

130 sessions (keynotes, spotlight sessions, SNIA tutorials, customer case studies and vendor tutorials) will be delivered in association with SNIA Europe at the coming show.
