Mellanox FDR 56Gb/s IB Enables 2X Faster Access to File Storage With Windows Server 2012 R2

Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. announced that running Windows Server 2012 R2 SMB Direct over its end-to-end FDR 56Gb/s IB solution accelerates VM live migration by 10X vs. Windows Server 2012.

Windows Server 2012 R2 SMB Direct also doubles the IO/s and reduces the CPU cycles required to transfer data by 17%. Those performance results have been achieved in conjunction with Mellanox RDMA technology with Windows Server 2012 R2, and they demonstrate the productivity gain that IB enables in virtualized data centers when running over Hyper-V.

FDR 56Gb/s IB interconnect solution includes the SwitchX-based SX6036 and SX6012 switches, and ConnectX-3/ConnectX-3 Pro 56Gb/s adapters provide greater performance when running enterprise data center applications.

FDR 56Gb/s IB solutions are available and include OEM support from such vendors as Dell, HP, and IBM.
